The Office of the Brooklyn Borough President is inviting all NAACP NYS Conference of Branches and their membership to participate in a Healthy Lifestyle Challenge. This will be a two-month challenge in which participants eat plant-based/vegan foods and commit to exercising a few hours each week.

Every other week for eight weeks, participants will meet for an hour and a half discussion/meeting in which an outside speaker will come in to present on a different aspect of the vegan lifestyle.

Expectations

The goal of participating in this Healthy Lifestyle Challenge with an emphasis in eating plant based/vegan food and incorporating exercise is for individuals to begin to experience improvements in their health status. We would like to target individuals who have been diagnosed as pre-diabetics and diabetics as it has been shown that changing to a plant based/vegan diet has a significant improvement in a person’s A1C status, and ultimately reversing a person’s Diabetic status to that of Non-Diabetic.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams is a living example of what can be achieved through a healthy lifestyle change by eating plant based/vegan foods.

Please note that for the purpose of this activity your contact information will be shared with the Brooklyn Borough President’s office.
