Join a Branch Committee

Below is a list of our current standing committees.

Operational

Membership: conducts membership drives and develops membership outreach initiatives to expand the capacity of the branch.

Fundraising/Special Events: works to create events and activities to raise money to expand the capacity of the branch.

Press & Publicity: works to generate awareness of branch programs and activities in our local communities through utilizing press, media, listserves, newsletter, website and a social media.

Legal Redress: responsible for investigating all reported incidents submitted to the branch.

 

Game Changers

Education: advocates for effective, accountable and accessible public-school systems, adequate and equitable school funding, promotion of culturally relevant curriculum, and the active involvement of parents in the education of their children.

Economic Empowerment: works to enhance the capacity of people of color through financial economic education; promoting diversity and inclusion in business hiring, career advancement and procurement; monitoring financial banking practices and promoting community development.

Civic Engagement: works to ensure voter empowerment through providing awareness, training, and programmatic support to ensure registration, education, administration, and election protection. The committee also works to advocate for policy and legislative changes in alignment with the NAACP mission and also ensures our communities are counted for the decennial Census and political reapportionment.

Health: works to erase disparities among people of color in the availability and accessibility to quality health care; research and report on community health needs; advocate for equal access to health education, care and treatment.

Justice Reform: advocates for smarter, results-based criminal justice policies to keep our communities safe, including treatment for addiction and mental health problems, judicial discretion in sentencing, and an end to racial disparities at all levels of the system. 

Youth: works closely with the NAACP Youth & College units to foster and develop future leadership in the NAACP. We support the development of future leaders through actively involving youth and young adults in the fight for civil rights.
