2020 Legislative Agenda
The recent Justice Reform action item to end police secrecy and repeal Civil Rights Law 50-A, is one of many needed for our community and listed on our 2020 legislative agenda.
Each year the Brooklyn Branch of the NAACP joins our New York State units to the state capitol in Albany, NY. Members join meetings with the Governor, Assembly Speaker, Senate Majority Leader and respective Assembly and Senate members to advocate for a legislative agenda that aligns with the mission and vision of our organization. Each bill has an (S) or an (A) in the front of it’s number to represent the senate and assembly. Feel free to reach out to your local senators and assembly members for their support of these areas for our community.
This year our visits to Albany and City Hall were cancelled due to Covid-19. More than anything the dis- ease and trauma our community has endured has gone on longer than our recent time of quarantine. It has been long fought and We Are Done Dying.
See below for a complete list of our 2020 priorities. Our Game Change areas of Education, Economic Empowerment, Voting Rights and Political Representation, Justice Reform and Health are all on the agenda below. Your action is appreciated.
