JOB POST: Census 2020 Social Media Coordinator ($23 per hour)
The Brooklyn NAACP seeks a Social Media Coordinator to develop original content and suggest creative ways to bring awareness about the 2020 Census and to achieve a complete count of individuals living in the following HTC areas: Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Canarsie, East New York and Flatbush. The Social Media Coordinator will drive engagement, secure online pledges to complete the Census, as well as promote the NAACP brand and advance our Count My Block campaign. Ultimately, the person must increase web traffic and customer engagement metrics aligned with broader marketing strategies conducted by the U.S. Census, NYC Census Office and the national office of the NAACP. The Social Media Coordinator will:
Be/Become fluent in the Census 2020 campaign and NAACP Count My Block (CMB) campaign
Research audience preferences and discover current trends
Create engaging text, image and video content using NAACP collateral for our CMB campaign in our five HTC areas and for our target populations (I.e. African American Men, Young adults, and Children 0-5 years old)
Design posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around new products
Measure web traffic and monitor SEO
Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
Train Neighborhood Coordinators and Organizers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way
Facilitate online conversations with our Census partners including (other funded CBOs, but also elected officials, unions, houses of worship, etc) and respond to queries
Report on online reviews and feedback from the community and fans
Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and community engagement metrics
Oversee social media accounts’ layout
Suggest new ways to attract new audiences, like promotions and competitions
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, New media or relevant field
Proven work experience as a Social media coordinator
Expertise in multiple social media platforms
In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels
Ability to gasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
Excellent communication skills
Multitasking and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and also collaboratively with others;
Has a positive, professional and inclusive attitude; and
Honors and respects all people of various backgrounds and identities.
